Date Masamune
Ookurikara will be from game canon. But I'll be referencing characterisation facts from both musical and stage adaptations as supplementary info, since they're not contradictory.

Touken Ranbu stage canon went with the theory that Masamune had Katakura Kojuro gouge out his eye. This lead to Masamune having Kojuro act as his missing eye and learn how to rely on his allies as an adult, instead of fighting by himself and becoming the ruler of Japan.

Because of Masamune's sheer presence, Ookurikara received a non-existent legend as the sword being carried in war camp. But historically, such a war never existed but the legend persist.

Personality:
"...I am Ookurikara. I don't have much to talk about. Because I don't intend on getting friendly."

Ookurikara gave the impression of being a solitary warrior, and it's a deliberate one. From the moment he's summoned, he never wanted to get close to anyone as he said on many occasions, regardless if they're his comrades in arms or his new master. All he ever desired was to fight on the battlefield, alone and unburdened by any bonds.

As his most influential master, Masamune's legacy greatly impacted Ookurikara's attitude and view as a warrior. He admired his previous master's way of life, namely that of a fierce warrior. So when Masamune started to "soften" and began to rely on allies more, Ookurikara disliked this and vowed to live as the fierce warrior in his master's place, especially after Masamune passed away in his deathbed instead of the battlefield. He wants to prove that he can win without any aid, which was the beginning of his attempt at a solitary life.

Not only that, Ookurikara's annoyed by the mistaken legend as Masamune's carried sword attached to him. He never experienced being wielded in battle and bringing Masamune glory. After Masamune died in his deathbed instead of the battlefield, Ookurikara made his vow. This was why he wants to head for the battlefield if he gets the chance. With a human body, he can personally fight in a real battle for himself, instead of having a lie hanging around his name.

"I'll fight by myself. You guys do whatever you want."

That made him a very individualistic and independant person. In both battle and at their headquarters, Ookurikara preferred doing things by himself. While it's fine for simple tasks like chores, he can almost become reckless as he charge into battle by himself. It takes his teammates, or his team's captain, to force him to stop before he can hurt himself.

"I don't intend on getting friendly."

Although he tries to act like a loner, Ookurikara does care about people who are close to him, such as the other Date swords, and draws close to them. One small sign of this was when he referred to Taikogane as "Sadamune" to the Saniwa, but used a more familiar sounding "Sada" around his friend. Outside of old friends, Ookurikara isn't immune to bonding with new people, despite his attempts at being a loner or consistently saying. Within the game, Ookurikara has shown he can become friendly, such as when he and Kasen Kanesada had their fight. They eventually make up afterwards to become drinking companions.

However, Masamune's legacy wasn't the only reason he wants to avoid being friendly with others. Ookurikara has watched his old Date friends leave the clan over the years, while he stayed behind. The pain of loss that came with departure stuck to him, as the musical canon confirmed where he grew attached to a man he personally taught, only to lose him in battle . As a result, he end up pushing people away to avoid getting attached and hurt.

Despite wanting to work alone, he can be convinced to help out. A lot of the time, it's because it's an order from the Saniwa and it would aid in his goal of going out to fight (e.g. horse keeping). The rest of the times, it's because he's either already attached to the person (like the Date swords) or he's secretly kind hearted and doesn't mind as much.

Ookurikara's never honest about expressing himself. From his insistence on being alone in battle and his social life, he sees opening himself up as a sign of weakness. People who know him pointed out his reluctance on several occasions (Shokudaikiri during Fieldwork with Ookurikara), despite his repeated denials. Whether it's to show he cares about people, or something as simple as liking cute animals, he'd deny it.

All in all, Ookurikara is a sword who tries to follow in his ideal vision of Masamune's old self. But underneath his asocial attitude is a kind soul who cares too much.

Powers and Abilities:
As the tsukumogami of the Ookurikara sword, he can obviously wield himself in battle. Due to his status as a tsukumogami, any damage his sword receives will be reflected onto his human body. In the most extreme case, if it breaks he will die. Along with this, he can sense some spiritual powers. Just enough to detect anything unusual or the enemy's presence.

The human body he received from the Saniwa has similiar limitations, just more durable than a typical person's.

If he's in a good/happier mood, cherry blossom petals can manifest around him to reflect him. It's tied to his emotions, so it's hard for him to control.
